“I turned my cancer tumor growth off and on again!”
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer about a year ago. My doctor told me my PSA level was 5.8. He said I should consider what type of cancer treatment I wanted to be subjected to. He recommended I undergo radiation treatments.
I talked with Strat and Doreen and they shared with me about how the chronic diseases people get in western countries are related to the excess amounts of processed and animal foods in our diets. They suggested I try to improve my health with a whole food, plant-based diet. They gave me a copy of the book, The China Study, and recommended a few videos for me to watch.
Wow! I was amazed at the evidence linking cancer (and many other diseases) with the standard American animal-based diet. Rather than getting exposed to radiation (which has been clearly shown to cause cancer!), I decided to switch to a whole food, plant-based diet and to follow Strat’s advice to drink lots of fresh carrot juice, which is great for people with cancer. I bought a juicer and started juicing organic carrots and apples from Costco. I was surprised to find out that it actually tastes good! Instead of spending $11,000 – $25,000 for radiation “therapy,” I spent a couple hundred dollars on a juicer and some apples and carrots.
I went back to my doctor a couple of months later and my PSA level had dropped from 5.8 to 3.2! He said that was at the high end of the normal range and he no longer advised me to start radiation treatments! I was excited about the idea of not having to get exposed to radiation.
Thinking that my cancer was pretty much taken care of, I stopped juicing and started eating meat and consuming dairy foods again. I went back to the doctor again about 3 months later and my PSA levels had gone back up to 5.2. I was amazed! My cancer tumor growth been turned off and my body began healing itself by my switching to a whole food, plant-based diet (along with a bunch of carrot juice) and then the cancer growth had been turned back on again by my going back to an American animal based diet! I now see more clearly than ever how important diet is to health and I am now switching back to a whole food, plant-based diet and will be juicing those carrots and apples again. I will update this testimony with future results.
“I lost 30 pounds in 3 months without even trying!”
I don’t usually go to doctors since I have always considered myself to be in fairly good health. I tried to eat a fairly healthy diet and I exercise occasionally. In 2009 I thought it might be good to go in for a general check up since I hadn’t had one in at least 15 years. The doctor ran some tests and informed me that my cholesterol level was “borderline high” at 206. I was also about 30 pounds overweight.
A few weeks prior to my doctor visit, I finished reading the book, The China Study, by T. Colin Campbell. The book had been recommended to my wife Doreen and I by a doctor we had visited regarding Doreen’s poor immune system. That doctor told us that he believes western medicine is great at diagnosing illnesses, but terrible at treating them.
I was amazed at the tremendous amount of evidence presented in the book regarding the link between the standard American diet (a diet typically high in animal-based foods, and refined oil, flour and sugar) and chronic diseases and ailments such as heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, strokes, Diabetes, auto-immune diseases such as arthritis, crohn’s and dementia.
When the doctor informed me of my “borderline high” cholesterol level, I told him I was going to change my diet to lower my cholesterol. He said, “Oh, there’s no need to do anything like that. We take a long term approach and I can work with you to lower your cholesterol level.”
The evidence presented in The China Study (a book based on the largest study ever done on nutrition and health) was so overwhelming; I had no desire whatsoever to be taking prescription drugs in a “long term approach” to lowering my cholesterol. I immediately switched to a whole food, plant-based diet.
What happened? I would eat a plate piled high with delicious vegetable stir fry on brown rice and think, “That was delicious. I’m going to eat some more.” I would eat another plate full of food and weigh myself the next morning. “Wow! I lost another pound!” I lost 30 pounds in 3 months without even trying- while eating more than I ever had eaten before!
My cholesterol? It has dropped a total of 74 points to 132. So much for the pharmaceutical “long term approach.” I took charge of my own health and was amazed. My thinking got clearer. I had more energy than I had before. This was great! Too bad more people don’t know about this! And what makes it worse is that there is so much misinformation out there.
After having my health changed so dramatically in such a short period of time, I couldn’t help but want to share my discoveries with others. I found that many people love their food choices more than they love their health and vitality, but some are open to making a few changes in the way they eat in order to have greatly improved health. Doreen and I have been able to help a number of people dramatically improve their health.
I started reading more books and watching videos on the subject to further educate myself. I also got a certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell University and got certified as a health coach in order to be more effective at helping people to improve their health and to prevent and even reverse some of the most dreaded diseases and illnesses that Americans get.
I realize that many people are misled by the media and by the latest in fad diets (many people are happy to hear false information if it supports their poor food choices) but at the same time, many people truly want improved health and vitality. Why get heart disease if you don’t need to? Why get cancer, die from prescription drug reactions, get arthritis or other auto-immune diseases? Why burden others with taking care of you in a sickened or demented state- if you don’t need to? I don’t want to burden my wife with caring for me if I get Alzheimer’s (or another form of dementia) and can no longer recognize her. (And no, memory decline is not a necessary part of aging- it’s most often a result of a poor diet.) There are some very serious ramifications of the standard American diet and there are some very simple solutions.
I don’t expect you to take my word for it however; what I am asking is that you check out the evidence for yourself. Many people completely trust the nutritional advice they get from their doctors and while there are many well-intentioned physicians out there; on average, American doctors receive two hours of nutritional education in their 8 years of schooling. You could get more in an afternoon on the internet (although it probably wouldn’t all be good information). In fact, only 25% of U.S. medical schools teach even one course dedicated to nutrition. We are continually bombarded with media reports featuring poorly designed studies that supposedly show us why it’s OK to continue to eat foods that are killing us. Why not take charge of your own health? We can show you the latest discoveries in nutritional science. And we can help you keep or reclaim your health and vitality. It’s simple and it’s inexpensive. While it won’t help the trillion dollar a year pharmaceutical industry, it can sure help you.
